Sri Manakula Vinayaga Educational Trust was formed with the avowed vision of enlightening society by offering quality and affordable education to the weaker sections of society. To cherish this objective and to join hands with the policy of the Government of Puducherry in enhancing technical education and also to meet the needs of our Nation, the Trust established Sri ManakulaVinayagar Engineering College (SMVEC), an institute of eminence in the year 1999 with a code of generating graduates with calibers.

Along its way, all the B.Tech UG and PG programs including M.Tech, MCA & MBA are approved by AICTE New Delhi & UGC, and affiliated to Pondicherry University, a Central University. At the apex of its standardization, the institute has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2 cycles with an “A” grade. At the summit of its ideals, all the eligible B.Tech programs offered are highly top-notch and are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi in 2 cycles. Besides, adding a feather to the crown of SMVEC, the institute is also accredited by a global multinational company TCS.

The students are also provided with well-furnished canteens and spacious dining halls. The kitchen is fitted with ultra-modern equipment.

Hostel accommodation is available for boys and girls separately. Each hostel is assigned a warden who acts as the friend, philosopher, and guide to the hostel inmates. The warden maintains strict discipline and hygiene in the hostel.

Library

The Central Library with excellent state of art infrastructure having a unique resource collection that is international in scope. The SMVEC Central Library is on its way to becoming an outstanding learning resource center catering to the ever-growing and uncompromising information and intellectual requirements of the students, faculty, and researchers.

The SMVEC Central Library strives for a high quality of library service, which emphasizes the actual delivery of information rather than the actual delivery of documents to meet the generic as well as specific needs of users. It has computerized all its housekeeping activities using Library software that is being maintained and updated regularly, which is connected to the campus-wide network. This enables users in searching and availing the library resources. It uses state-of-the-art technology in its functioning and services.

Transport

Auditorium:

SMVEC Puducherry has a well-lit and well-built theater with a seating capacity of 750 people. The sophisticated sound equipment in this centrally air-conditioned hall features well-balanced acoustic designed designs.

Cafe/Mess Facility

The college is equipped with a fully functional vegetarian and non-vegetarian canteen to serve hygienically prepared food to the staff and students. A subsidized mess is also operative on the campus. A separate mess for boys has been provided.

Placements

The college has established a full-fledged Training and Placement cell, which monitors employment opportunities and arranges campus interviews for the pre-final year and final year students.

Placement cell edifies all the managerial traits, which are required for the students and prepares the students according to the requirement of the industry.

The placement cell also helps to sign MOU with reputed organizations and universities in India and abroad for the exchange of knowledge and the latest technology.
