Tagore Government Arts and Science College, established in 1961, is the premier institution in the Union Territory of Puducherry. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone for the new campus of our College on the Birth Centenary of our patron Shri Rabindranath Tagore. In 50 years, it has blossomed into a full-fledged institution offering courses in a wide range of disciplines at the Graduate level. The College has earned the honor of being recognized as a quality institution by the University of Madras. From 1986 to 87, the College was affiliated with Pondicherry University. From 1989-90 it has been functioning as an Under-Graduate institution only. Our College has been accredited with a B Grade by the NAAC.
