KIIT was established in 1992 as a vocational training centre with only two staff and 12 students. However, it took shape as an institution only in 1997, when degree engineering programme commenced. KIIT owes its existence to the vision of its founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta who, with no land, limited finances (only Rs. 5000/-) and little knowledge of higher education to create an institution for the benefit of the society. Since the start of the college placement season 2022 batch of graduating students, which began in May 2021. Students from more than 3000 received single placements, and the most successful 1500 students were placed into "Dream Companies" with an average CTC of 8.10 LPA. 35 companies provided CTCs of 10 LPA and more per year, and more than 130 businesses offered an INR 5 CTC. Admission

KIIT University Admission to UG and PG courses is granted based on the valid score of KIITEE which is followed by counseling.KIITEE is administered through KIIT University for MBA, BBA, BCA and other UG courses for admission to various universities. Medical courses are for students who require the valid NEET UG or PG score to meet the requirements for admission. In addition to KIITEE, KIIT also accepts other exam scores like NATA in B.Arch, UGAT for BBA, GATE for M.Tech, and UGC NET for PhD.
