On 21 September, 2012, the then President of Sri Lanka Shri Mahindra Rajapaksa laid the foundation stone of the Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic Studies together with the former Prime Minister of Bhutan HE Jigme Yoser Thinley on a hillock on the Bhopal-Vidisha Highway having its proximity to Sanchi-better known for its Buddhist stupas.
The University is trying all its earnest efforts for reviving the old glosry of Great Ancient Indian Education System and enlivening the present scenario by adding values to multifaceted aspects of knowledge, practice and wisdom for the benefit of humankind. The University is carving a niche for preserving treasure of knowledge where ancient Indian wisdom is emerging as a guiding spirit for the contemporary knowledge systems.
The objectives of the University are to promote study and research in Buddhist and Indic Studies including the principles of Dhamma, a foundational tenet of Indian culture and to facilitate the cross-pollination of ideas and foster harmony amongest different civilizations of the world.
