More than 40 PhD students from the Delhi University's (DU) Chemistry department have written to the director for the department asking them not to hold examinations offline due to the latest variant of coronavirus.
In the letter, students suggested that in the event that online exams are not feasible, the department might look at extending the exam date by one week. They also said that many students aren't on campus and students are "not feeling comfortable" writing tests offline because of the COVID-19 variant that has been updated.
Chemistry department director professor Sunil Sharma said the PhD students have been visiting the campus to work in laboratories which is the reason the department chosen to hold exams in offline mode.
"We have received their letter and told them that online exams will not be possible, but we can consider extending the date by a week," Sharma explained. The tests are scheduled to start on the 10th of December.
